I have just had a miserable weekend & am fairly desarate to try something new which might help. I haven't tried any of the products offered on this website but was considering the warming eye mask, but didn't want to spend £20 unless anyone can recommend. I would probably also try the gel product too if anyone recommended as I am nervous to put anything new in my eyes in case it makes them worse

Hello Sarah

I'm sorry you're struggling at the moment. I use the eye bag, and it's lovely, and definitely seems to encourage some moisture.  I don't use it as regularly as I should, but because my eyes are so bad at times, I even get a headache, and I find the eye bag very soothing, and sometimes even fall asleep with it on!

I bought a mask to heat in the Microwavee but when I read the leaflet it mentioned that it could possibly cause a cataract to form in the eye.  I already have one forming in one eye so feel wary of using the mask.Ouch

Val, after seeing your concern about the eye bag / Warm Compress Mask I asked the inventor, Ophthalmologist Teifi James, for his comments:

"The leaflet mention of the possibility of cataracts forming is purely theoretical and there has not been any case of cataract caused by EyeBag use that I am aware of. This statement should not deter anyone from using the EyeBag because they should gain immediate relief from dry eye and blepharitis." Teifi James

I hope that this helps you decide to use the EyeBag / Warm Compress Mask.

Best Regards Claire

Hi in answer to guest who wrote about being wary of antibiotics for the eyes, the antibiotics I take  one oral Doxycycline capsule  (100mg per day),which Ive been given for six months this time, been told safe to take for this long,Ive been taking them now for four weeks, and my eyes have improved, but not as fast as I would like them too,but as nothing else improves them this much I will continue, really does put your Life on hold some days, and yes do get headaches with this sometimes,it is a very nasty thing to have, but Im still sure mine gets worst when Im stressed, when I asked Dr If that could be the case I was told no study has been done on this outlook for BLEPHARITIS,but can not be ruled out, because many patients do consider this to be a factor,I also use the mask, but do not find it makes that much difference to the way my eyes feel, but gather many people are happy with this treatment,so we march on,to maybe someone finding a cure

Warm Air Mask warms the air you breathe. This partial face mask helps you stay comfortably warm on cold winter days. The Warm Air Mask works as you breathe normally through your mouth. Your breath is directed through the patented heat exchange module, which uses heat from your exhaled breath to warm the fresh air you breathe in.

I can thoroughly recomend the Warm Eye Mask - like you I was very nervous and sceptical - I found the thought of putting a microwaved pad onto my eyes a bit worrying - however I have found instant relieve. I used the eye pad as recommended ie twice a day  for a fortnight - and now I just use it when I feel the need -  once or twice a week.
