Hi been suffering to long now,used all the above drops, lotions ,potions and eye mask,and the only thing that helped was when I was on antibiotics prescribed by Moorefield eye hospital for three monthes,but the minute I came off them the symptoms returned,just arrived home this morning fron USA,AND THE Plane JOURNEY KILLED MY EYES, I was lucky to travel in Club class so had sleeper bed,but sleeping was not a good idea,I awoke after three hours to have very stuck together eyes and so, so red and sore,not worth sleeping,Im now at home and my eyes are still very painful,have a further appointment with Moorefield in October(first avl appointment they have)so looks like another course of antibiotics,but how long can that continue I wonder?? cant any one give any thing else to cure this thing we all have???

I to have Blepharitis and i would warn anyone using antibiotics such as Tobordex (think thats how its spelt) NOT to use it. It is not a sustainable cure for Blepharitis and extended use of such steroid can result in steriod cataracts or other eye problems. I was originally using some antibiotic gel from my hospital but have since stopped using it as it was only meant for 2 weeks. My optician at the hosptial said in bad case i can be put on oral antibiotics which would be safer for the eye, but i havnt been precribed with them yet.

I was diagnosed just over a week ago after having been treated for conjungtivitis. The doctor gave me an antibiotic gel and a eye hygiene routine. The gel was a course for a week and seemed to be working but I stopped using it yesterday and already I can feel the Bleph coming back.

Welcome to the club,all I can say your in for the long haul,its the worst thing I have ever had,I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy,sorry to sound so positive,Ive been fighting with this problem for almost two years now,under Moore field eye hospital,and had a cornea erosion procedure in hospital to remove the loose skin covering the eye,I wake most nights with pain in both eyes and really dry,I have drops lotions potions etc etc,even been on antibiotics for four monthes as suggested by hospital,nothing seems to help.I wake most mornings with red painful eyes(looks like someone has thrown grit in to them,so painful,its takes a hot shower and rubbing the eyes for at least five minutes every morning to look half decent,My problem seems to have started when I was diaginosed with starting the menapause,my local dr is convinsed that when I come out the other side my eyes will get better,but been told the menapause can last for five years so thats bad,I have started taking omega 3 fish oil capsules higest dose possible three weeks ago,and see slight improvement in my eyes,so hoping when ive been taking them a bit longer I will note big improvements heres hoping ,good luck with nyours,im afraid its trial and error,what will work for you,try everything people suggest,but site right,baby shampoo aged remedy and causes the eyes to become very sore,so no dont use,or bio carbanate either,not good at all,best eye gel viscotears liquid gel,can get over counter,from this site or from dr,if dr gives you the large tube will be cheaper,GOOD LUCK,LET US KNOW HOW YOU DO

ANTIBIOTICS DONT WORK,AND MAKE YOU FEEL CRAP,SO DONT GO DOWN THAT ROAD,DID IT TWICE FOR FOUR MONTHES,THE HOSPITAL REQUESTED ME TO TRY TWO DIFFERENT TYPES AND BOTH FAILED TO CURE MY EYES SORRY FOR THAT NEWS

Eye mask terrific-got it yesterday. Really fed up with Blepharitis and sore eys and dripping facecloth. Always found the faceloth too hot and then cold quickly - eye mask falls reallys close in to eyes and warms the bits that need it. Hope with massage of lids this will improve problem.

Antibiotics (doxycycline) are the only thing thats helped me consistently.  Shame my symptoms aren't completely gone when I'm on it, but they are much, much better.  Unfortunately, if I stop taking them symtoms return, so I've been on them (50mg/day) for 2 years.  Without them I'd struggle to work at all, with them I have some dryness in the evening but is manageable with eyebad+lid massage+fake tears.

Intersting to hear that your symptoms return when you stop taking doxy. I have been trying to reduce from the 5Omg per day I have weaned down to.   The rosacea symptoms I have are manifesting more again and my eyes more irritated.  My eyes always worse as day goes on.   Do you have any adverse side effects from the doxy?  May I ask what eye drops help you best? I soemtimes have to put them in several times per hour and this is so distracting.
